The indie adventure game known as The Wild at Heart revealed a new trailer at the ID@Xbox indie Showcase, complete with a release date for late spring this year.

The Wild at Heart is a game about two kids, Wake and his best friend Kirby, unknowingly coming across a world filled with magical creatures. They discover that an ancient conflict is threatening the peace in the land, and Wake and Kirby are tasked with guiding an army of small sprites to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies, and fight back against an evil entity known as the Never in this adventurous indie game.

The upcoming game from Moonlight Kids, in a partnership with Humble Games, looks like a reimagined version of Pikmin while pulling artistic inspiration from storybook adventures and cartoons with its gorgeous art style. The Wild at Heart is about childhood escapism as Wake is struggling with a troubled home life. He spends most of his time at home, but after he and Kirby decide to run away into the woods one night, they stumble upon this brilliant world created by Moonlight Kids.

Much like Pikmin, the player will get to command an army of these magical sprites to complete tasks and uncover secrets within this mysterious world. A small amount of combat akin to Luigi’s Mansion will also be featured in The Wild at Heart as Wake can use his trusty vacuum to battle hostile creatures.

After Moonlight Kids released a successful demo during last summer’s Steam Game Festival, The Wild at Heart is less than two months away from a full release.

The Wild at Heart is set to release May 20, 2021, for PC and Xbox One.
