Even six years after its release, The Witcher 3 is still proving it has graphics and environments worth taking a look at. One particular fan of this critically-acclaimed game has decided to let all fans stop and smell the roses in a new video which shows Geralt trekking across many of The Witcher 3’s environments.
The Witcher 3 is a game that has always remained somewhat relevant since its release. As it burst onto the gaming scene in 2015, many flocked to label it the game of the year, and praised the final instalment in The Witcher trilogy for its narrative, world and graphical fidelity. Earlier this year, a next-gen remaster of The Witcher 3 was announced, and though its been pushed back to 2022, the fantasy action-RPG has once again emerged into the forefront of gaming.
One of the major reasons why The Witcher 3 has managed to remain relvant is its fans. From fan art depicting Ciri with an Assassin’s Creed style look, to the aforementioned video of Geralt walking through the game’s most beautiful scenes, the fans of The Witcher have consistently and creatively found new ways to keep their favourite game fresh and interesting. Posted on Reddit by user u/Aman690, the video of Geralt walking shows no HUD, nor anything except The Witcher 3’s protagonist strolling leisurely through the game’s regions. Currently u/Aman690 has two parts of this video posted on their Reddit account, and there will likely be more videos to come in the future.
Walking compilations showing off the beautiful visuals in a given game are not exactly new things. Earlier this year, one player of Red Dead Redemption 2 showed off the game’s map and its many areas all while carrying a bowl of stew. With slow, soothing music, these videos have been praised by commenters as being the “perfect ways to relax.” Indeed, the escapism provided by these short strolls through fantasy lands can be relaxing, though other players are seemingly called to action by seeing the best visuals of their favourite games. One Redditor in particular said “this vid may have triggered my third playthrough.”
The Witcher 3’s popularity has spread over the years since the game’s launch. The Witcher television series starring Henry Cavill launched back in 2019, with a new season arriving in December of this year. Even with big projects like the TV series aside though, The Witcher 3 still seems to be leaving its legacy on the gaming world. With creative videos such as this one being made every day, through its fans The Witcher 3 shows why the game still holds such popularity.
