Bungie has announced the exotic weapons, titan armor, and mod that players will be unable to brandish in the latest World First race to complete Destiny 2’s Vow of the Disciple raid. As part of the Witch Queen expansion, the event will run for 24 hours beginning at 10 am PT on March 5th and test fireteams with reduced power levels in their rush to nab the champion title.
Raids are an entirely different beast in Destiny 2. Facing seemingly endless hordes of enemies and crafty puzzles at every turn, anyone that’s attempted a raid or been lucky enough to sigh with relief at ending a legendary boss knows just how punishing the trek can be. Now, furthering the story from The Witch Queen campaign, guardians will enter the Pyramid Ship amid Savathun’s Throne World in Vow of the Disciple. In this upcoming world race event, there are new rules by which guardians will be forced to abide by.
Bungie has stipulated what armors, weapons, and mod it will be disabling as part of the World First race to complete Vow of the Disciple. The weapons that will be disabled for the raid are:
- Legendary IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.2 SMG Legendary Imperial needle bow Exotic Grand Overture machine gun Exotic Wardcliff Coil rocket launcher
Additionally, Bungie will bar titans from equipping the Wormgod Caress Exotic Gauntlet, introduced in the Warmind expansion, and Peregrine Greaves Exotic legs armor. The Suppressing Glave armor mod will also be disabled to reduce player benefits, nevertheless, guardians will be able to use artifact powers up to the level of 1530, which will be capped as usual in contest mode. During the event, those that equip the aforementioned items will have it impact their power level.
Bungie has also stated that some additional items may be disabled for the race as it continues to make adjustments following patch 4.0.0.2. As the release of The Witch Queen has brought various bugs that have needed to be ironed out, tweaks may lead to other items being disabled as part of the event.
It’s unsurprising that the IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.2, one of the best sub-machine guns in the game, and the Wardcliff Coil launcher with its homing rockets and perk eliminating the need to reload, are being disabled. As for the Wormgod Caress, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it removed from player use. It is also not a shock to see the removal of the Suppressing Glave given it is one of the best artifacts players received in season 16. Stunning enemies for prolonged periods of time and spamming melee attacks are, therefore, not a tactic that can be employed in Vow of the Discipline.
It is always an exhilarating ride when fireteams are let loose to tread through a new raid to prove they are the best, not simply wielding the best loot. As an entertaining watch or participant in the race, there will be no shortage of Destiny 2 streams while teams race to be the first in the world to complete the new raid.
Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
