We’ve finally had our first look at the highly anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, and Marvel has just published a new poster for the picture, which is due to be released in July, like a lightning bolt slashing right across the sky. The new poster comes following the premiere of the movie’s first official trailer, which depicts Chris Hemsworth’s Thor on a quest to rediscover himself after the mayhem of the previous Avengers films.

Thor, outfitted in a sleeveless vest, t-shirt, pants, and boots, stands with one foot on two mountain ranges, holding out his ax Stormbreaker to the sky in the new poster. In the poster, Stormbreaker gets struck by lightning, and the flash of light lights the entire landscape. A ringed planet fades in the background, and the billboard depicts a collision of two separate lights: blue on the left, and the warm hue of a clearing sky on the right, signaling the impending struggle for everyone’s favorite interplanetary Viking god/superhero.
Thor: Love and Thunder will portray Thor on his journey for inner peace after the emotional and huge trauma he faced in earlier Marvel flicks. Thor is summoned back into action after a galactic assassin is known as Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, attempts to slay the gods, which is terrible for the heavenly Thor. Thor will have to reenlist in his life as a hero, enlisting the assistance of various old friends, including Tessa Thompson’s King Valkyrie and Taika Waititi’s Korg. Thor will also meet his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, who is mysteriously capable of wielding Mjolnir, Thor’s mythical hammer, as Thor herself. They’ll work together to fight Gorr the God Butcher and unearth the mystery surrounding his motivations.
Waititi, who also filmed Thor: Ragnarok, directs Thor: Love and Thunder. Marvel fans and journalists alike praised Taika Waititi’s work on Thor: Ragnarok. Thor: Love and Thunder will undoubtedly follow the film’s strong aesthetics and humorous leanings. Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum are producing the film.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theatres on July 8, right in the middle of the summer season
