We’re about to get into spoiler part of the film “Thor: Love and Thunder. Stop reading immediately if you really want to enjoy the twists as they come in the movie.
This weekend saw the release of the fourth “Thor” film, which is anticipated to generate huge sum of revenue. Taika Waititi directed “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, which took Chris Hemsworth’s himbo hero in a more hilarious path. The film also features Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who last appeared in the “The Dark World” and was MIA in “Ragnarok.” “Avengers: Endgame” decided to make use of archival footage for Jane Foster.
In “Love and Thunder,” Thor leaves the Guardians of the Galaxy behind in order to prevent a threat to New Asgard. This mission is made more difficult when Jane reappears in his life, this time armed with Mjolnir and transformed into The Mighty Thor herself. Together, the two fight Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), a bad guy on a mission to exterminate every god in existence, with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Korg (Waititi). He is not the only hurdle the crew must overcome, however, since Jane is also fighting Stage IV cancer, and her transformations into Thor are further hastening her death.
We promise not to discuss any spoilers, so let’s jump right into the first question we had after watching the movie.
Is Jane Going to Die?
When Jane uses Mjolnir, she transforms into a seemingly unstoppable force, but the transformation simply has the effect of hastening the cancer’s attack on her body. Foster does one more change while knowing that it will kill her, so that she might participate in Gorr’s ultimate battle. Even though the gang stops the evil guy’s scheme and destroys his Necrosword, Jane dies and is seen being welcomed into Valhalla by Heimdall in the closing post-credits scene.
Anyone who has read the Mighty Thor comics would disagree, even though it appears that Jane’s tenure in the MCU may be nearing to an end. After Jane sacrifices herself and Mjolnir to defeat Mangog in the storyline upon which her Thor transformation is based, Odin himself, who is still alive, meets her at the gates of Valhalla. However, as she stands just outside the gates, peeping within, she senses something yanking her back into the present and telling herself that she still has “more to give” and that she “wasn’t done writing my story.”
Over her lifeless body, however, Thor tries to resurrect Jane by channeling the God Tempest, a cosmic storm erupted from the broken Mjolnir, into her. Odin rushes to Thor’s side to assist in controlling the Tempest and successfully channels it into Jane, reviving her, after Thor loses an arm while attempting to do it alone. She consents to undergo chemotherapy once she is back among the living and informs Thor that it is time for him to “regain who you are” and reclaim the mantle.
What Is the Meaning of the Ted Lasso Cameo?
To warn Zeus (Russell Crowe) and the other gods of existence of Gorr’s coming threat, Thor and the gang travel to Omnipotent City in the movie. However, things don’t exactly go as planned. The crew not only steals the Greek god’s lightning bolt but also uses it against him, presumably killing him, when the warning is dismissed and Thor’s great, er, hammer is revealed by Zeus with a flick of his fingers.
Fans were initially excited to learn that Crowe will be playing Zeus, a significant opponent of Thor in the comics, in the movie.
Zeus, who is still alive, commands his son to kill Thor after reflecting on the shame that Thor has brought and how superheroes have made gods seem ridiculous. And who was it that Marvel cast as the towering, scantily clad demigod? Naturally, Brett Goldstein from “Ted Lasso,” who flaunts his great physique in the character’s provocative attire.
Can King Valkyrie discover her queen?
At the 2019 Comic-Con, Thompson stated that Valkyrie’s “first order of business” might be to “find her queen” when “Love and Thunder” was revealed at Marvel’s Hall H presentation. Sadly, however, the finished movie does not feature any such relationship.
A scene from “Ragnarok” that showed a woman exiting Valkyrie’s bedroom was the first to explore her sexuality. However, it was ultimately removed. By flirting with the female gods that circle Zeus in Omnipotent City and lamenting over unfulfilled loves, the character’s strong attraction to women is made more obvious in “Love and Thunder.”
Her trip in the film is largely about self-discovery and discovering that she’s not just searching for a fling but is truly open to love again. As an outcome, she should, hopefully, find a girlfriend wherever she shows up next.
Now that Thor is a father, what comes next?
Even while “Avengers: Endgame” received a lot of attention for Thor’s apparent “dad bod,” Thor actually became a father towards the end of the movie.
So, how did we arrive here? Gorr the God Butcher made a promise to destroy all the gods because the one his people worshipped to ignored their requests for help, causing their annihilation. His crusade began when he was forced to witness his own daughter die while he held her. When Gorr arrives at Eternity, a cosmic being that has the power to grant any wish, Jane persuades him to request that his daughter be raised from the dead in his final moments rather than asking for the mass extinction of gods.
Thor adopts her and raises the kid as his own after Gorr dies. The girl is portrayed by Hemsworth’s own daughter alongside Elsa Pataky, making it even more adorable.
The two are seen beginning on their own adventures as a team known as “Love and Thunder,” with Thor wielding Mjolnir and the tiny firecracker rocking Stormbreaker.
