In this tech world, competitions between technologies and apps are rising day by day. Last year, Google was ranked as no. 1 website and TikTok was ranked as no. 7. But, surprisingly this year TikTok has emerged as the most popular website without having the Indian population involved.

It is evident that TikTok is a dominant force within the top ten, as clones of the short-video platform can be found in MX TakaTak and Moj. Reels, Facebook’s own clone on Instagram, was launched as well. It has been banned in India because of security concerns after TikTok experienced a massive surge of users during the COVID-19 pandemic. The app clocks 1 billion monthly active users globally. Shouzi Chew, the former CFO of ByteDance and a Singaporean national, became TikTok’s CEO earlier this year. A social networking service for videos owned by Chinese company ByteDance, TikTok is known in China as Douyin. Videos range from 15 seconds to three minutes in length and cover genres such as pranks, stunts, tricks, jokes, dance, and entertainment.
