Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands fans have gotten a few good looks at the game, and many are understandably excited based on what has been shown. The Overworld map seems like an excellent way to take full advantage of the game’s unique premise, the multi-class system could add plenty of replayability, and melee weapons should add a new layer to combat. Once fans finish the main story, they can rest assured that more content is coming, as Gearbox has promised four post-launch content drops.

While the season pass for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is following the same format that the other Borderlands games have stuck to, it would be nice to see some extra content drops in between the four larger ones. Borderlands 2’s Headhunter Packs were a great example of bite-sized content done right, and they could be a great way to make sure that players have something to do in between each of the larger expansions.

What Were Borderlands 2’s Headhunter Packs?

Borderlands 2’s Headhunter Packs came in the form of five small DLCs, each priced fairly at $3. The DLC packs came with one main mission, a side quest, a new location, and some additional heads for the Vault Hunters. Four were themed around holidays, while the fifth saw players taking on the Son of Crawmerax The Invincible – a great callback since the original Crawmerax was the very first raid boss in the Borderlands series.

While players only got about an hour and a half out of each DLC, the Headhunter missions were a lot of fun, and each offered a unique arena and boss that served as a change of pace from the game’s other locations. Outside of an upcoming Borderlands board game paying homage to the Wattle Gobbler, though, these DLC packs are not talked about very much nowadays. This is a genuine, as there is a lot of fun to be had from the bite-sized adventures. As such, the format would be worth bringing back in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

How Borderlands 2’s Headhunter Packs Could Work In Borderlands 2

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ Dungeons and Dragons style makes it easy to justify a Headhunter pack. Tina and her group could sit down to enjoy a campaign, only for one of the characters to not have time to play out a full game of Bunkers and Badasses. As such, Tina could craft a quick story that sees players encountering a villain and defeating them within an hour or so, with the threat becoming a replayable boss that players can return to once the short story is complete.

Headhunter Packs would be a great way to add several raid bosses to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, as one of the biggest downsides of Borderlands 3 was that the game only had one proper raid boss. If Headhunter Packs returned, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands players could see the DLC’s final boss becoming an Invincible adversary once the story is complete. Every time they return, they could have a tough fight to engage in with some exclusive loot to grind for.

While Borderlands 2’s Headhunter Packs were added after the Season Pass was complete, a different approach could be taken if Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands brought them back. A few weeks after each expansion, a Headhunter pack with a new raid boss could be added to keep players busy. This could make the wait between the big expansions feel a lot shorter, adding endgame content to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands in the process. While Borderlands 3’s seasonal events were solid, Headhunter-like DLC could be even better, especially if each pack offered a difficult boss encounter. The small DLCs would not be limited time, either, with players free to replay the content as much as they’d like.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands launches March 25, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
