Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has done a fine job of hyping gamers up in the lead-up to the spin-odd’s release, with the latest trailer revealing two more classes. While some players are set on using the Icezerker and Stabbomancer, they now have two more choices to consider. Though the Clawbringer will surely be attractive to those who like throwable weapons, the Spellshot should appeal to an entirely different kind of gamer.

With Sirens being incredibly important to the lore of the Borderlands franchise, it makes sense that a playable Siren is not an option in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Players are creating and customizing their characters through the multi-class system, after all, so a Siren would not fit well into the game’s format. However, the Spellshot could be the perfect alternative for those that are drawn to the Siren class’s unique abilities.

Why Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ Spellshot Is A Great Siren Alternative

Borderlands’ Sirens boast distinct tattoos and even more distinct abilities, with fans having controlled three very different Sirens across the main games. While powers like Phasegrasp and Phasewalk have been plenty of fun to use, and a new ability will likely feature in Borderlands 4, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands players can make use of the Spellshot’s lineup of skills.

The Spellshot will give Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands fans access to a handful of spells, with the first being Ambi-Hextrous. This neat ability sees players shooting fire and ice out of their hands simultaneously, dealing ice and fire damage to enemies. It also seems like players can lean into one of these spells specifically, as the trailer sees the player character snapping their fingers before they light an enemy on fire.

This should be great news for players that liked to build Borderlands 3’s Amara around elemental damage. With players having easy access to two special elemental effects, they should be extremely deadly against certain enemy types. When facing off against fleshy enemies, being able to double down on incendiary damage could be incredibly useful. For the enemies that are more resistant to fire damage, wielding some ice powers could be a great way to whittle down some health bars. Putting both together should make for some very effective attacks, and being able to pair elemental guns with fire and ice spells could make for an even deadlier combo.

While players will not be able to master a Phase-related power in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, as the Spellshot is built around wielding proper, fantasy-inspired magic, they will still get access to a particularly unique ability in the form of Polymorph. This sees foes instantly transformed into ghostlike “Skeeps,” creatures that seem to be a cross between a Sheep and a Skag. They then fly up into the sky, and it is unclear if players will need to shoot them down after the transformation or if they disappear shortly after being altered.

Considering that the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands trailer for the Spellshot sees the player using Polymorph on a massive ogre-like foe, the ability could end up being overpowered. While it would surely not work on bosses, it seems like everything else could be easy to take out - though perhaps some enemies can escape their Polymorph form or attack while transformed. Regardless, this is a distinct ability that separates the Spellshot from the other class options - something that the various Siren powers have always accomplished in the main games. For players who have always been drawn to Sirens, the Spellshot should feel like a natural choice.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
