With the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home rapidly approaching, Tom Holland has joined in on teasing some of the film’s anticipated rumors, including a scene with a mystery character.

For months, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been surrounded by rumors, including the appearances of former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Holland, the current Spider-Man actor, hinted at a big scene in No Way Home that he considers one of the coolest he’s ever shot.

During an interview with Empire, Holland revealed that the scene includes Peter Parker’s Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) and his overseer Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). The two adults are joined by Holland’s Peter Parker and a character he is currently unable to disclose. The courtship between May and Hogan was teased in Spider-Man: Far From Home and their relationship appears to have grown stronger. Holland describes the scene as “four people sitting at a table having a conversation about what it’s like to be a superhero.” He went on to say that he was fortunate enough to watch the scene back with his brother and that both of their jaws were on the floor.

When pressed about who the fourth person in the scene might be, Holland played coy. Questioned about the rumors surrounding the appearances of either Maguire or Garfield, Holland failed to reveal much. “I’m in the dark. If they are [in it], no one’s told me.” Often considered one of the few actors who may reveal heavily guarded Marvel information to fans, Holland is doing his best to be tight-lipped on the surprises that may occur in No Way Home.

It’s possible that Holland is purposefully teasing the rumors and that the scene actually consists of a Marvel character many already know. With Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange set to star in the film, it’s possible that he is the mysterious figure involved in Holland’s scene with Aunt May and Happy Hogan. Another possibility is Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts, given the close relationship between Peter and Tony, and Peter’s control over E.D.I.T.H. Other possibilities include Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Wong, or any of the other Marvel heroes seen thus far in the MCU.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has already confirmed the appearance of Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock in its first trailer and it’s likely more villains from other Spider-Man films will join him. Considering the scene Holland describes is a familiar and comfortable setting, it’s extremely unlikely that the mystery character will be any of the villains. No matter who the mysterious fourth character is, if Holland considers it one of his most exciting scenes amidst all his acting work, the scene is sure to be a memorable one.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere on December 17, 2021.
