How to add custom backgrounds to a Facebook post on a Web browser
Step 1: At the top of your feed, click on the box that says ‘What’s on your mind, [Your Name]?’
Step 2: Click on the colour palette icon with the ‘Aa’ text on it.
Step 3: You’ll be presented with a list of basic colour backgrounds. For more animated backgrounds, click on the icon with the four squares at the end.
Step 4: Pick the background you want to set on your post.
Step 5: Write your post and click on ‘Post’ to share it with your friends.
How to add custom backgrounds to a Facebook post on Android
Step 1: Open the Facebook app.
Step 2: Tap on the box that says ‘What’s on your mind?’
Step 3: Select ‘Background Colour’ from the menu that pops up.
Step 4: Select a background colour from the listed options or click on the button with nine squares for more custom backgrounds.
Step 5: Pick the background you want to set for your post.
Step 6: Write something on the post box and click ‘Post’ to share it with your friends.

You can only add custom backgrounds to text posts that you make from your personal profile. Background colours cannot be added to posts from a public page. Personal posts with links or images with them can’t be shared with a custom background either.
