Though it’s sad that the company has not put this game directly for a Chromebook owner to download and play. Nevertheless, the good news is that Chrome OS supports Linux and Android applications that will enable you to play this game on a Chromebook. Here is how.

Using Android

Step 1 – Head to the settings of the Chromebook.

Step 2 – Turn on the Google play store.

Step 3 – Open Play Store and search  Minecraft: Education Edition

Once the installation is complete you are good to go. The version is free to play and install. The application is available online for students and will give first 10 free logins, after that you need to buy a subscription.

Download Minecraft: Java edition via Linux

Install Linux

The first step to install Minecraft: Java edition is by installing Linux on your Chromebook. To do so, follow the below steps.

Step 1 – In your Chrome book, head to Settings and then go under the Advanced tab.

Step 2 – Select Developers options from the tab to see the Linux option.

Step 3 – Tap on Turn on to start Linux.

The process will take a little time and after that, the Chromebook will ask you to set up Linux.

The Linux setup is completed now following the next method to install Minecraft: Java Edition.

Install Minecraft: Java Edition

Step 1 – Download Minecraft.deb file from the official website.

Step 2 – Double click on the file to start installing.

Step 3 – Now press the search button to explore the Minecraft launcher. 

Step 4 – Now the application should be running.

Step 5 – Press “Play Demo”.

The application will start installing the latest version of the game and after the installation is complete that game will automatically be reopened (open manually in case the application did not open).
