There aren tons of war movies to watch on Netflix. War movies has developed into a genre all its own. Within such dire, morally bound climates, plot are driven at rapid fire pacing by high stakes action sequences and psychological struggles. Apocalypse Now Redux

Appocaypse Now is  today widely considered now of the greatest films ever made. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards at the 52nd Academy Awards, including best Picture, Best Director and, Best Suppotring Actor for Duvall, and went on to win for BEst Cinematography and Best Sound. It ranked No. 14 in Sight and Sound’s greatest films poll in 2012, and No.6 in the Director’s Poll of greatest film of all time. Roger Ebert also included it in his top 10 list of greatest films ever in 2012.

The Guns of Navarone

The Guns of Navorone is a 1961 epic adventure war film directed by J. Lee Thompson from a screenplay by Carl Foreman, based on Alistarir MacLean’s 1957 novel of the same name. From also produced the film. The book and the film share the same plot: the effort of an Allied commando unit to destroy a seemingly impregnable German fortress that threatens Allied naval ships in the Aegean Sea.

Stripes

Year: 1981

Director: Ivan Reitman

Stars: Bill Murray Ramis, Warren Oates, P.J Soles, Sean Young, John Candy, John Larroquette

Stripes is a 1981 American war comdey film directed by Ivam Reitman and Ramis wrote film with Len Blum and Dan Goldberg, the latter of whom also served as producer alongside Retman. Nuerous actors, including John Larroqutee, John Diehl, Conras Dunn, Judge Reinhold, Joe Flaherty, Dave Thomas, Timothy Busfield and Bill Paxton, appear in the some of the earliest roles pf their careers. The film’s score was compose by Elmer Bernstein. Murray stars as John Winger, an immature taxi driver who, after losing his job and his girlfriend, decides to enlist in the United Stes Army with his friend Russel Ziskey. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and audience, and was a commercial sucess.

Beasts of No Nation

The storyline follows the journey of a young boy, Agu, who is forced to join a group of soldiers in a fictional West African country. While Agu fears his commander and many of the men around him, his fledgling childhood has been brutally shattered by the war raging through his country, and he is at first torn between conflicting revulsion and fascination Depicts the mechanics of war and does not shy away from explicit, visceral detail, and paints a complex, difficult picture of Agu as a child soldier.

Shadow

Will be the characters around who turn the inexorable forces of this story.

Cold Mountain

Cold Moutain is a 2003 epic period war film written and directed by Anthony Minghella. The film is based on the bestselling 1997 novel of the same name by Charles Frazier. The film tells the story of a wounded deserter from the Confedaerate army close to the end of the American Civil War who journeys home to renuite with the woman he loves. The film was a co-prodction of companies in Italy, Romania and the United States. Cold Mountain was released theatrically on December 25, 2003 by Miramax Films. It became a critical and commercial success grossing over $173 million and receiving seven nominations at the 76th Academy Awards, with Zellweger winning Best Supporting Actress.
