Streamers of the widely popular game World of Warcraft all tend to have different opinions on playing the game with people outside their circle. Streamers in general tend to hold their beliefs quite strongly even outside of specifically playing World of Warcraft, leading to a divide on those who play with viewers, random players, or simply their own group. Some streamers such as Forsen may spend a large amount of time playing with viewers, but Asmongold holds a much different opinion.
As Asmongold was playing New World in a recent stream, he was asked by viewers about why he doesn’t join in raids that include random players (in World of Warcraft Classic). With Blizzard continually updating World of Warcraft Classic, adding things such as male ghosts in the Karazhan raid, Asmongold’s community heavily expects the streamer to be playing raids more than he has. Being polite yet stern in his answer, Asmongold explains why he simply doesn’t enjoy it anymore. The streamer starts with a concerning statement, but further explains his actions afterward.
The Twitch streamer began his explanation with a blunt statement, “I get so mad whenever people don’t do what I want them to do.” He continues though to explain further, calling himself basically a jerk and how he only enjoys raids when everything goes exactly the way he wants. His self-retrospective viewpoint makes him sound genuine yet considerate in his personal choice. With World of Warcraft recently adding Solo Island Expeditions, Asmongold may find other WoW content to stream instead.
Asmongold’s continues to explain while grinding resources in New World, “I know myself, and I think to myself, maybe I should just not do it (play with random players). Just save everyone the headache.” He is insistant the issue does not lie with other players, but rather an understanding of whether he would enjoy playing the game at all in the situation he does not have full control. With so many games like World of Warcraft, and the ability to play New World, Asmongold will likely find other content in the meantime.
With World of Warcraft being Asmongold’s most well known game, many in the community are surprised at comments like these. Recently Asmongold criticized a new WoW update, leading viewers to believe the streamer is moving away from his claim to fame video game. Currently Asmongold has instead been streaming New World without a camera; a very unusual combination of actions from the controversial camera-using World of Warcraft streamer. Signs such as these may mark a shift in the future of the streamer’s content.
