New World reached half a million players right after the servers went live on launch, which may indicate that the game as a whole is well-crafted and got a lot of people very excited to play it. Shroud appears to be one of these happy fans, but that doesn’t mean he loves every aspect of the game. In fact, after he described the game’s UI as “lacking,” he went on to declare that it was impossible to argue with that statement.

In a recent live stream, shroud stated that players could tell the New World UI has been made with thumbs in mind and that it was noticeably difficult to keep track of what people were saying in the chat. Shroud made these comments about eight hours into a 15-hour-long New World stream. The streamer said, “The game is neat. I’m not saying the game is bad. I’m just saying the UI is lacking, that’s all I’m saying. The user interface is lacking. You cannot argue there. You just can’t. The game is great. It’s interesting. It’s just got a bad UI.”

New World has already released a statement concerning plans to improve the game, so the UI problems may be addressed in the near future. In the meantime, shroud may have to put up with a questionable UI in order to keep enjoying New World. As of writing, it appears that the developers’ main priority will probably be fixing the long queue times, so any UI fixes, upgrades, or redesigns will probably come after they sort those issues out.
