Elon Musk in his reply to CNBC reports shared that Twitter Inc has about 2,300 active employees.
CNBC reported that Twitter’s full-time headcount has reduced to about 1,300 active, working employees, including fewer than 550 full-time engineers by title. To which Twitter CEO Elon Musk replied “The note is incorrect. There are about 2300 active, working employees at Twitter, There are still hundreds of employees working on trust & safety, along with several thousand contractors. Less than 10 people from my other companies are working at Twitter.”

Elon Musk took over the company in October 2022 and rolled out a lot of changes in the company and its policies. Along with that, he laid off 50% of the staff and there were rumours about a further reduction in numbers which was ruled out by Elon himself in his tweet.
