Activision’s successful battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone will soon get some content inspired by Blizzard’s beloved hero shooter Overwatch. Specifically, a Call of Duty: Warzone weapon blueprint that pays tribute to the Overwatch hero Wrecking Ball has leaked.

This is not the first time that fans have seen Call of Duty crossover with another property through cosmetics. However, it does remain to be seen if the bundle will be marketed as an official crossover. Thus far, cosmetic bundles have been a mix between official and unofficial homages, as the Kill Bill and Hitman-inspired cosmetics lacked proper branding despite being full of references to the properties. On the other hand, Judge Dredd, Scream, and other bundles have had full licensing, and have been able to have more accurate designs because of that.

While it would make sense for the Overwatch bundle to have proper branding, as Activision Blizzard owns both properties, it remains to be seen. Regardless of what the the bundle is called, though, it is very clear that a leaked weapon blueprint is an homage to Wrecking Ball from Overwatch. While the genetically engineered hamster may not have been anyone’s first guess for crossover content, it certainly seems like he is being shown some love. For starters, the weapon blueprint is dubbed “Wrecking Ball,” making the connection obvious. It also boasts the color scheme from Wrecking Ball’s default skin, with dark green and orange colors used.

If these details were not enough to sway gamers into believing it was an homage, the fact that the weapon reads “ham” on its side should make the reference even clearer. The Wrecking Ball blueprint transforms Call of Duty: Vanguard’s MG42, so the gun will be fully usable in that game as well. With one Overwatch reference included in this bundle, it will be interesting to see if anything else appears. An Overwatch calling card and emblem could be fun to see, while a weapon charm of Hammond himself seems like a no-brainer.

This Wrecking Ball-themed blueprint could just be the beginning for Overwatch cosmetics. Not only are there dozens of heroes that could get their own bundle, but fans seem to be positive on the crossover. Redditor House_of_Vines is a Wrecking Ball main, so they are excited to have content based on their favorite character. Palegg_Bread also dubs the Wrecking Ball blueprint “the crossover I never knew I needed,” showing both their surprise and their excitement regarding the leak.

While it remains to be seen if Operators will ever dress up as characters like Mercy and Cassidy, there is certainly potential for more Overwatch cosmetics. For now, though, fans have the Wrecking Ball-inspired gun to look forward to.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
