New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on September 19, 2022) follows:

Wattpad is a free online social reading platform where users can read and write original stories in their preferred language.

Users can also interact directly with writers and participate in discussions with other readers. It is accessible on PC, iOS, and Android devices.

Wattpad app not working or keeps crashing on iOS

However, many Wattpad users are reporting an issue where the app is not working or keeps crashing on iOS devices (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

When users try to launch the app, a loading screen with the Wattpad logo appears followed by an immediate crash. Even after several attempts, this issue continues to occur for Wattpad users.

Readers and writers of on platform have been frustrated by this bug since they are unable to access their stories or books on the app.

This issue appears to have popped up after the recent v9.79 update on iOS devices, if the reports are anything to go by. It’s also possible the issue could be related to iOS 16 compatibility.

Some people have tried troubleshooting methods including uninstalling and reinstalling the app and rebooting their devices, but nothing currently appears to be working to solve the issue.

Issue acknowledged

Fortunately, Wattpad support has acknowledged the app not working or crashing issue and said that developers are working on a fix. But no ETA was provided.

You can use the web version in the meantime as a possible workaround until a fix is released.

That said, we will be keeping tabs on the matter and update this article as and when we come across more information so make sure you keep checking this space.

Update 1 (Sept. 20)

12:39 pm (IST): In a recent acknowledgment, Wattpad support said that they are still investigating this issue. And yet, they didn’t share any ETA for the fix.
