While attending the Wireless Music Festival in Finsbury Park in Camden, UK, American singer and rapper Nicki Minaj recently organized a meet-and-greet for her fans there. But the meet and greet had to be cancelled since Minaj’s followers flocked to the chosen location in droves. Minaj may be seen surrounded by her followers in a number of social media videos. The artist can be seen shoving him while mouthing the words “Move back” in one of the videos that a fan posted on the internet.
According to reports, Minaj shared the time and location of the meet and greet in a TikTok post about it. However, things took a bad turn when crowds of people gathered and erupted out of control. At some point, Camden Police had to intervene and lead Nicki Minaj to her car.
In a tweet, Minaj asked her followers the following after reposting video of the audience at the venue:
“Guys, if you don’t get in a contained space they won’t let me get out the cars. Pls [sic] don’t run in the streets. Please get in 1 place. 1 line.”
A fan is pushed aside by Nicki Minaj
The fan can be seen attempting to take a photo with Minaj in a video posted on social media by @theyluviish. But as soon as he attempts, the singer shoves him. Interestingly, supporters didn’t object when Minaj pushed them aside. The Barb expressed his gratitude for being moved by the singer in his writing. Also thanking Minaj for coming, he said.
Taking to social media, the fan wrote:
“I’m just happy Nicki touched me, all love. Thank You Nicki for stopping by” with a red heart emoji and an emoticon of a British flag.”
As a result of the fan’s online comments, there was debate concerning Nicki Minaj’s actions in pushing the fan. Others disagreed, saying that Minaj shouldn’t have pushed the fan the way she did. Some people felt that Minaj’s actions were appropriate and that there was no other way for her to create space for herself.
The crowd needed to be dispersed, so Camden Police tweeted:
“In the interests of safety the event managers took the decision that the event would not go ahead. Members of the public are advised not to travel to the area. Crowds are leaving and police remain on scene. No arrests.”
Nicki Minaj shared some videos of the enormous crowd assembling in the meantime. Addressing to her followers, she said: “My babies I love you all so much. Thank you to the officers for helping us so much today.”
Minaj Minaj highlighted her universal reach in a different post: “Which means I gotta fly like a movie- NO COMMERCIAL! That’s YOUNG MONEY, CASH MONEY, yea I’m UNIVERSAL.”
In the past few weeks, a large number of instances of fans trying to approach artists at music festivals have come to light. Fans of Roddy Ricch, Playboi Carti, and Lil Baby all entered the stage separately to get near to the performers. The security officers attacked and defeated the fans. At the Wireless Music Festival recently, a fan similarly attempted to grab Cardi-hair B’s as she leaned into the audience.
