The American Drama miniseries, Dopesick may not be renewed for a second season as the show ended in the year 2021, and still, there has been no update regarding the renewal dates by the filmmakers.
In the miniseries “Dopesick”, a character named “Gabe” finds out that he has a condition called “dope sick”, caused by his love for his best friend, who has been dumping him constantly. This condition in the medical domain is termed as “dopamine addiction”, and the character suffers from this addiction.
Actors in the series suffer from Dopesick as they wish to be loved but they don’t know how to do it. By being doped up on dopamine, they can only love their friends. Dopamine pleasures people when they are with their friends, so people with dopamine addiction would want to be loved by their friends. However, everyone could not be doped up on dopamine, so some people suffer.
It’s an 8-episode miniseries that was released on October 13, 2021 and aired till November 17, 2021. The episodes deal with several issues of the day which include drug addiction, mental illness, and sexual abuse.
Its cast consists of Michael Keaton, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, and Peter Sarsgaard.
The show was nominated for two Golden Globes, one Emmy, and three Critics’ Choice Awards. It has also won two People’s Choice Awards, one Critics’ Choice Award, and one Writers Guild of America Award for Best TV Comedy Series.
