New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 10, 2022) follows:
Twitter Blue arrived last year (2021) as a subscription service that ‘unlocks’ new options and perks for users.
Recently, Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter was confirmed. Among the changes that the new owner brought to the platform is a new Twitter Blue with some tweaks.
For instance, now subscribers will receive a verification checkmark on their profiles, something that was previously achieved after an approval process.
Twitter Blue is already available in certain markets, but there are still users who cannot subscribe due to a ‘not available in your country’ error. So, in this story we will try to dispel the doubts related to this situation.
Twitter Blue subscription for Android and Web currently not available
Many users have been wondering when the ‘Twitter Blue verification checkmark’ will be available. There are doubts for both the web version and Android, since the feature is already available on iOS.
It’s worth pointing out that there are currently two types of verification checkmarks: the legacy check (the traditional verification check for profiles of interest) and the new check (for Twitter Blue subscribers).
It is the new Twitter Blue check that is currently unavailable for certain users. Next, we will explain the reason behind this.
Here’s the official word
First, the new Twitter Blue is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. So if you live outside of those territories you won’t be able to access the subscription.
But, multiple users are reporting that, even living in those areas, they cannot activate the subscription on Android or web version.
This is because the new Twitter Blue features are currently not available for those platforms. So, it is no longer possible to subscribe to the service since yesterday (November 9) until the full subscription reaches those platforms.
Current Twitter Blue subscribers who subscribed through Android or web have the option to cancel the service if they wish. The cancellation can be manual or automatic (waiting for the end of the billing period).
Unfortunately, there is still no official information on when the new Twitter Blue will be available on Android and web. However, there is an official word about the availability of the subscription in India:
If the subscription arrives in India in less than a month, it is possible that other countries also receive it during the same period. But there are no details yet about which other countries will receive the subscription soon.
We will be monitoring the situation to update this story with new relevant information regarding the availability of Twitter Blue on Android and the web once it emerges.
