Prior to Google Workspace, Google offered G Suite, a collection of productivity and collaboration tools. The service offered a free subscription to the tools, now known as the G Suite legacy free edition.
That said, the company recently announced that they will be discontinuing the free version starting June 1, 2022.
The tech giant also offered two ways for G Suite free legacy edition users to continue their subscription. The first one involves upgrading to Google Workspace.
And for G Suite legacy free edition users who do not want to pay for the service, there is a no-cost option that will lack some premium features such as the ability to manage multiple users.
Google further said G Suite legacy free edition users opting for the no-cost option will have to join a waitlist in the Google Admin Console. But according to recent reports, many still haven’t received the invitation to the waitlist (1,2,3,4,5).
As it turns out, a Diamond Product Expert had commented on the matter a week ago asking users to wait for one or two weeks.
That said, the same Diamond Product Expert is now asking users to wait another 2-3 weeks before being able to join the G Suite free legacy edition no-cost waitlist.
As always, when Google shares the link for G Suite legacy free edition users to join the no-cost waitlist in Google Admin Console, we will let you know so make sure you keep checking this space.
