Harnaaz Sandhu of India is the new Miss Universe 2021. On December 12, 2021, the 21-year-old model was crowned Miss Universe 2021 in the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. Harnaaz will win Miss Universe for the first time in 21 years. Lara Dutta had previously been crowned Miss Universe in 2000.

Harnaaz’s victory was announced on the Miss Universe Organization’s official Instagram account. They captured the precise moment the beauty queen was proclaimed the winner of the coveted title at the event in Israel. “India is the new Miss Universe,” they captioned the video. Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico crowns an emotional Harnaaz, who will be her successor, in the video.

 

Who is Harnaaz Sandhu?

On Monday (IST), India’s Harnaaz Sandhu was named the 70th Miss Universe, beating out a field of 80 candidates in a competition marred by politics and the pandemic. Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira, second runner-up Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane, and 79 other contenders from various nations and territories competed for the coveted title.

Harnaaz is a 21-year-old model from Chandigarh, where she attended high school and college. She’s been in the profession for a long time and has a long list of pageant championships to her credit. Yaara Diyan Poo Baran and Bai Ji Kuttange are two Punjabi films in which she has appeared.

Harnaaz won the Times Fresh Face Miss Chandigarh 2017 pageant, as well as Miss Max Emerging Star India 2018 and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019.
